ARTIST STATEMENT
As an artist, I often find it difficult to explain my paintings in words because in my opinion Art itself is a powerful medium which can express a thousand words and emotions without saying a thing.
My work is primarily the result of my need to paint. It is discipline and a passion. I draw because I can't think of anything else I would rather do, and my artistic talent is a gift from God.
I am intrigued by both surrealism and realism, and my work is a tension between abstract and realist styles.
My inspiration is interior and is impacted by nature's kaleidoscope of patterns and forms and also the hardships/sorrows and happiness of life. Collectively, I try to escort the viewer into a poetic field of suspended time with the elements of my compositions.
I do not limit myself to one medium, style or concept. Inspiration and ideas change. Whether abstract or realistic, my goal is to discover and capture the beauty of the nature and human spirit, and at the same time reflect who I am.
I don't think about capturing the image as it is when I start a new piece, but more so try to achieve a desired effect. I am happiest when the works I create surprise me. This for me is what I enjoy. Drawing and painting continues to be an endlessly fascinating and enriching endeavor.
